Mr. Darcy

There once lived a boy with an upturned nose,

who spoke little and had his head in the clouds.

He did nothing all day but read poetry and prose,

but was lost for words when spoken, and ran away from   the crowds.

He stayed locked up in his castle, very dark and old.

His eyes were hazel, hairs were locks of gold,

and lips so stiff; his heart freezing cold.

Or that was what they thought, so were rumours told.

He made friends with a rabbit, whom he found in heather,

its fur white as snow and soft as feather.

He called her, Miss. Liz.

With darting eyes she saw him, when he asked her,

"May I have this dance, please"?

The waltz began and sent their hearts aflutter.

As they danced, came gasps of "wow"!

She said "it's your turn to say something now,

Mr. Darcy". He fumbled and occasionally stumbled.

In her eyes he searched for words, which he couldn't mumble.

Under her gaze he crumbled and was humbled.

Love songs, candle lights and dance are a dangerous mix,

they both were smitten, and they knew about this.

They adopted a kitten and named her Jane.

Mr. Darcy was Liz's

and she was his.
